‘Christmas in the Mountains Vol. 5’

Hunger has reached epidemic proportions in the High Country, and, through music, community members can help alleviate some of the hardships families are facing now.

The Hunger and Health Coalition will offer the “Christmas in the Mountains Vol. 5” CD in mid-October at more than 70 area locations.

According to Hunger and Health Coalition executive director Compton Fortuna, “The $10 cost of the CD will help end the devastating childhood hunger in the High Country. It is remarkable that the Hunger and Health Coalition can use that $10 you spend to feed a family of four for one week. The number of clients we are working with is unprecedented. One out of seven children in North Carolina goes hungry.”

When someone purchases a CD for $10, they’ll not only receive a collection of Christmas songs performed by local artists, but they can spread that joy to others by giving the CDs as gifts. The album includes performances by the Kruger Brothers, Amantha Mill, Todd Wright, Sound Traveler, Jessica Presnell, Diana Wilcox, Steve and Ruth Smith, Blue Ridge Vocal Ensemble, Sharon Mitchell, Andy Page, Alexis Worthington and Tyron Young, and Matthew Weaver.

“That purchaser also helps the Hunger and Health Coalition give the gift of food to the hungry in our local area,” Fortuna said.

To purchase a CD, visit one of the following locations. For more information, or to help, call the Hunger and Health Coalition at (828) 262-1628.
