Lehman will give a live demonstration of his artistic
techniques during Boone’s First Friday Downtown Art Crawl at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts.
The demonstration is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 2 between 6 and 9 p.m. in the Community Gallery.
Lehman will attempt to complete a painting from start to finish in three hours. Guests are
invited to take in the entire process or drop in for a few minutes.
When the painting is
completed, the Turchin Center will host a silent auction for the piece until 6 p.m. on Saturday,
Dec. 3. Proceeds from the silent auction will hot to the Turchin Center’s Outreach Program, serving
at-risk youth, homeless children and disadvantaged adults.
Born in North Dakota and raised
in the Midwest, Lehman first became interested in arts as a child. After high school, however, he
started his own business installing flooring and had not been involved in the art-making process for
over a decade.
Later he moved to Carolina and rediscovered his love of art. He creates
whimsical scenes of long-limbed humans and fantastical landscapes.
“One of my objectives for
my art is to encourage people to keep their childlike wonder and adventure by sharing my own
imagination through painting,” said Lehman.
In addition to being a visual artist, Lehman is
also an accomplished musician who is new to the area.
