Watermedia season begins May 12

The High Country Watermedia Society welcomes members and guests
to its first meeting of the season at 10 a.m. on May 12 at Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff in
Boone.
All artists from beginners to professionals are invited.
The club meets the
second Saturday of each month from May through October. Refreshments are served at 9:30
a.m.
The first guest artist is Tunde Afolayn. Afolayn works in vibrant colors allowing
figurative images to adopt expressive, abstract qualities, as well as representational style.
He will present a demonstration at the general meeting, followed by a private workshop at 1
p.m. Registration is limited and required for the afternoon workshop.
His workshop and
residency credits include the North Carolina Arts Council and the High Museum in Atlanta, as well as
many mural projects with schools across the state.

Registration for the workshop is $35 for
members and $70 for nonmembers (nonrefundable). Make checks out to HCWS with the artist’s name in
