WAC hosts YART Sale
Have you heard that the Watauga County Arts Council has moved
to a new space?
The Blue Ridge ArtSpace is scheduled to hold its grand opening Saturday, June 8, and volunteers have been working away to prepare the building to become what executive director Cherry Johnson calls “the exciting cultural focal point of the entire county.”
However, with moving comes expenses — many of them unexpected. The Blue Ridge ArtSpace has had its share of these, Johnson said. As such, the Watauga County Arts Council is hosting a “YART Sale” Saturday, June 1, from 7 to 11 a.m.
“This is a great opportunity to not only get some wonderful treasures, but also to clear your home of clutter and ‘stuff,’” Johnson said. “Do you have some spring cleaning that you just did not get around to or have a pile of stuff that you have been meaning to donate to someone? If so bring it by.”
The WCAC is looking for all kinds of items, including clothing and shoes for all ages, linens, towels, sheets, housewares, dishes, small furniture, chairs, tables, holiday decorations, small appliances and, of course, art if you have it.
“It is a YART Sale, after all,” Johnson said.
Those with large appliances and furniture that they would like to donate should take a photo, write a small description and email it to email@example.com, and it’ll be posted on a board during the sale. If it sells, the buyer will arrange pickup.
The Blue Ridge ArtSpace is located at 377 Shadowline Drive in Boone. Donation drop-off hours are noon to 7 p.m. weekdays or by appointment. Pickups are also available.
