Variety: The Spice of Life
Alta Vista Gallery is showcasing new works by Linville artist Joan Sporn.
Alta Vista Gallery in Valle Crucis is offering visitors the
chance to enjoy more than 24 new paintings and meet Linville artist Joan Sporn, one of the
bestselling painters in the High Country, at the gallery’s opening reception June 23, from 11 a.m.
to 5 p.m.
The show is hanging now and will be displayed until mid-July. Sporn’s show,
“Variety: The Spice of Life,” includes new works, featuring her popular Impressionistic
mountain landscapes in oil and acrylic, as well as a more diverse selection of subjects than Alta
Vista has ever shown before: close-ups of wildflowers and cows, portraits, chess-players, Shanghai
ladies with chopsticks, a trout-fisherman and more.
Also featured will be a new medium
for Sporn: mixed-media-collage.
“All works showcase her customary bold color palette and
texture, and you’ll love the variety of subjects – the spice of life,” gallery owner Maria
Santomasso Hyde said.
Refreshments from Shelton Vineyards will also be available.
Alta Vista Gallery is located in a National Register of Historic Places farmhouse at 2839
Broadstone Road, between Mast Farm Inn and Mast Store Annex, in Valle Crucis.
The
gallery shows more than 100 artists in oils, pastels, watercolors and prints, as well as jewelry,
fused glass, stained glass and Mangum pottery.
Receptions are held on the fourth
Saturday from June through November.
