Tour de Art Saturday
Tour de Art 2014, a High Country gallery and studio tour, kicks
off the summer season on Saturday, June 28.
Now in its sixth year, Tour de Art is a monthly event in which artists open their studios to the public and galleries host special art events. Tourists de Art may visit each of the galleries throughout the day, starting at 9 a.m., with the guidance of a map available at each participating gallery.
Participating galleries include:
Mike Hill’s Art Purveyors World HQ (112 Aldridge Park, Foscoe), which will be featuring recent giclees of vintage comic art master studies by artist Anthony Coffey;
Alta Vista Gallery (2839 Broadstone Road, Valle Crucis), featuring fine art and crafts in all media by more than 200 artists;
Carlton Gallery (10360 N.C. 105 South, Banner Elk), celebrating 32 years of paintings, sculpture, glass, wood, clay, fiber and jewelry by local and regional artists;
Kevin Beck Studio (1590 Shulls Mill Road, Boone), featuring soulful, plein air paintings of the Blue Ridge;
Linville River Pottery (2180 Goose Hollow Road, Pineola), featuring handmade stoneware and porcelain teapots, bowls, vases, mugs and jewelry by Patti Connor-Greene and felting by Virginia Greene;
Sally Nooney Gallery (7137 N.C. 194 South, Banner Elk), featuring original paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylic, as well as functional and sculptural art glass and jewelry; and
Studio 140 (140 Azalea Circle, Banner Elk), a contemporary art gallery and open studio, featuring nature and portrait artwork, where visitors can see live painting demonstrations by Kent Paulette (aka Derfla) and work from Bolivian-born action-painter David Banegas.
