Appalachian State University’s Turchin Center for the Visual
Arts will host a Beaux Arts Festival on Sunday, Sept. 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the galleries.
The festival will feature local artists Wes Waugh and Tunde Afolayan, who will be painting
on site, with their finished products to be auctioned off at the conclusion of the
evening.
Live music comes courtesy of faculty members from the Hayes School of Music,
including Dr. Harold McKinney, trombone; Dr. Rob Falvo, percussion; Dr. Elizabeth Rose, french horn;
Ted Ulick, keyboard; and Christy Clavio, African instruments. Attendees will also be able to
participate in other activities, such as a caricature artist, a roaming magician and more. A
children’s workshop (for ages 6 to 12) will be held in the Turchin Center’s Room 3200 from 3 to 4
p.m.
The cost for admission is $20 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger, with
all proceeds to benefit the Turchin Center and support access to the arts for the community.
