Sunset Stroll on Sunset Drive Friday

Downtown Blowing Rock hosts the Sunset Stroll on Sunset Drive this Friday, May 13, inviting folks to join the galleries, restaurants and stories in an evening social of art and music.

The fun lasts from 5:30 to 8 p.m., marking the beginning of this season's strolls.

Alex Jones, proprietor of The Mountain Cottage, 304 Sunset Drive, invites strollers to see Margaret Salisbury's oil paintings and Robin Cater's pottery, along with light refreshments.
Across the street at Blowing Rock Grille, folks can enjoy an early dinner or drinks as they plan their evening out.

Morning Star Gallery at 257 Sunset Drive will showcase paintings by Louise Keranen of Newland. This gallery features American fine art and crafts, and in the tradition of Handmade in America, visitors will receive a warm welcome with American-made wine and light refreshments, including petite fours.

Another newly established business, Glen Scott Gallery, showing Southern art and crafts, invites visitors to peruse its wares at 153 Sunset Drive, Suite A, next door to Mellow Mushroom. Check in with owner Cheryl Greene for her plans to introduce new sculptors and jewelers this summer.

Art and Artifacts, as well as Blowing Rock Estate Jewelry and Antiques, opens its doors for the season during the Sunset Stroll on Sunset Drive.

Dennis Burgette of Feather Your Nest Gallery will be on hand at 110 Sunset Drive to display the colorful paintings he commissioned this winter from painter C. Lewis. This is a must-see collection featuring colorful palette knife technique, as well as the work of 40 other artists.

At the top of Sunset Drive, enjoy a visit to Christopher's Wine & Cheese, as well as Jake's at the Rock, 150 Sunset Drive, where the staff will treat strollers to cookies and lemonade.

The four restaurants open for Sunset Stroll on Sunset Drive will be Mellow Mushroom, The Best Cellar (live music and outdoor bar, weather permitting) and Blowing Rock Grille.
