Sunset Stroll on Sunset Drive Friday

2010's final Sunset Stroll on Sunset Drive hits Blowing Rock Friday, and gallery and business owners are inviting all to take in art, live music and refreshments.

Time's a-wastin'!

Blowing Rock's summer social event is coming to a close this Friday night on Sunset Drive, and gallery and business owners are encouraging folks to gussy up and head out with their friends and neighbors for one last night of art, hors d'oeuvres, live music and fun.

Sunset Stroll on Sunset Drive is sponsored by the businesses on Sunset Drive in Blowing Rock, and this week's hosts are DeWoolfson Linens, Morning Star Gallery, Blowing Rock Estate Jewelry & Antiques, Art & Artifacts, All Things Pretty, Feather Your Nest Gallery, The Shabby Garden Shop, Christopher's Wine & Cheese, and Jake's at the Rock - all of which will be serving light refreshments.

Christopher's Wine & Cheese is hosting a wine tasting, and invites the public to meet area artist and activist Jay Winston, whose oil paintings are on exhibit, along with other area artists' works.

Art & Artifacts and Blowing Rock Gallery of Homes and Land will host a wine and cheese reception, featuring potter Brenda Moore of High Point and painter Stephen Brooks of Hickory.

Adorned by Lonnie will be "On the Patio," hosting a jewelry trunk show with treasures from around the world.

Morning Star Gallery invites strollers to feast their eyes on The Best of the Blue Ridge and Beyond, a new show of oil and acrylic landscape paintings by Louise Keranen, Jonas Gerard, Greg Osterhaus and Linda Leeger Stokes.

The gallery's collection also features art glass and treasures from across the United States.

Jake's at the Rock invites strollers for lemonade, and, weather permitting, the bars and restaurants will be serving outdoors on porches, patios and in the gardens at Blowing Rock Grille, Crippen's Restaurant and Mellow Mushroom.

Strollers can also bring their lawn chairs to enjoy live music under the trees at the Best Cellar at the Inn at Ragged Gardens.

Sunset Stroll on Sunset Drive begins this Friday, Oct. 1, at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Look for the balloons guiding you to the participating businesses.
