‘Sun in My Face, Wind in My Hair’
As part of the Sunset Stroll on Sunset Drive, Art &
Artifacts and Blowing Rock Gallery of Homes & Land are featuring the magnetic representational
works of Greensboro-based painter Addren Doss.
A meet-the-artist reception will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m Friday, June 14, and is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
“Sun in My Face, Wind in My Hair: The Engaging Paintings of Addren Doss,” features Doss’ plein air and studio paintings, both oils and pastels. The show will exhibit landscapes from the High Country and from the American West. In addition, her popular pet portraits will be on display, and she will be available for commissions.
Doss said her goal is to engage viewers emotionally by creating light-filled paintings that use intense colors and strong value patterns. Her oil and pastel paintings are filled with bold brush and knife work and passages of pure, clean color.
Doss spent nearly 20 years as a graphic designer, doing corporate and freelance work. In 1990, she decided to follow her true passion and began her career as a painter. Throughout the years, she has studied with many noted American artists. Doss said she now feels the need and responsibility to share what she has learned by teaching classes and workshops.
She is a signature member of the Women Artists of the West; Member of Excellence of the Southeastern Pastel Society; associate member of the Pastel Society of America and of the Women Painters of the Southeast.
In addition, Doss is a founding member of the Piedmont Outdoor Painting Society and a member of the Pastel Society of North Carolina. To view her works online, visit http://www.addrendoss.com.
