Sabai Sabai for Summer
This week, ArtWalk is featuring the authentic fiber works of Thailand.
Brought straight to the High Country by Natalie Faulkner of Raleigh, the Sabai Sabai Company's line of clothing and purses offers one-of-a-kind additions to a summer wardrobe.
Each of these cultural, functional works of art involves either vibrant weaving or elaborate embroidery and is hand-selected by Faulkner.
ArtWalk currently has on display a selection of pants, shirts, jackets and bags in various sizes, from coin purses to messenger bags. A selection of the clothing is handmade by members of the Hill Tribes of Chiang Mai, Thailand.
"Sabai Sabai," the name of the company, is a Thai phrase, meaning "not a care in the world," and is associated with relaxation and bliss.
Sabai Sabai's clothing and bags are located on ArtWalk's mezzanine. With three and a half floors and more than 300 local, regional and national artists, ArtWalk is located at 611 W. King St. (across from Mast General Store) in downtown Boone. Hours are Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
