RaRa Schlitt’s artwork at ArtWalk
The paintings of RaRa Schlitt are being featured this week at
ArtWalk of Boone.
Schlitt is a nationally renowned folk artist and a children’s book author and illustrator. The books penned by Schlitt include “Robert Nathaniel’s Tree,” “Grandmother’s Glasses” and “Grandfather’s Keys.” Schlitt has been a guest artist for March of Dimes and has donated art to benefit many causes across the country, including cancer research, Habitat for Humanity, Hope Advocacy House and Harmony Adoption, among others.
Schlitt’s art is represented in galleries in New York, North Carolina, California, Alabama and Florida. It has also been displayed in Canada, England and Switzerland. The artist said her love of life and others is painted into each canvas, and it is her hope that people will have the opportunity to pause and enjoy the art in their lives.
Schlitt is a mother of five, who can typically be found painting to classical music with her golden retriever, Rosie, by her side. Ever busy, Schlitt is also a physical therapist and volunteers part-time teaching and conducting art projects in her community. She resides in Maryville, Tenn., with her husband, Tom.
