Schlitt is a nationally renowned folk artist and a children’s book author and illustrator. The books penned by Schlitt include “Robert Nathaniel’s Tree,” “Grandmother’s Glasses” and “Grandfather’s Keys.” Schlitt has been a guest artist for March of Dimes and has donated art to benefit many causes across the country, including cancer research, Habitat for Humanity, Hope Advocacy House and Harmony Adoption, among others.

Schlitt’s art is represented in galleries in New York, North Carolina, California, Alabama and Florida. It has also been displayed in Canada, England and Switzerland. Schlitt is a mother of five, who can typically be found painting to classical music with her golden retriever, Rosie, by her side. Ever busy, Schlitt is also a physical therapist and volunteers part-time teaching and conducting art projects in her community. She resides in Maryville, Tenn., with her husband, Tom.
