This week, ArtWalk is showcasing the work of jewelry artist Lisa Newman, who has created a line of sterling silver and Swarovski crystal, called “Piece of Lisa.”

Newman has lived in South Florida since she was 2 years old, and many pieces in her collection reflect her affection for the area’s warm sunshine and ocean views. Her passion for arts and crafts began more than 20 years ago, and today she indulges this passion, not only by creating her own work, but also by traveling to different galleries and shows across the country to see what other artists have done.

According to Newman, art is a therapeutic outlet, as she finds that creating is calming and allows her to be in the present moment, adding that every piece holds a place in her soul — her energy. As such, Newman said she is dedicated to her art and wants to share the magic of her creations with those who connect with it.

In anticipation of the season, Newman is hosting a pre-holiday sale, with pieces priced at a 30-percent discount.

ArtWalk is located at 611 W. King St. in downtown Boone. For more information, call (828) 264-9998, email (artwalkboone@yahoo.com) or visit http://www.artwalkboone.com.
