Beginning Labor Day weekend, visitors to Morning Star Gallery can take in the glass artistry of 10 of the Southeast’s finest glassmakers.

The show is a special tribute to Herman Leonhardt, a.k.a. the Swamp Man, whose large glass bowls and vases are the centerpiece of the collection.

Leonhardt’s South Carolina studio gained fame as the place to acquire large glass works. Morning Star Gallery is the exclusive outlet for his glass in North Carolina.

Many of his colorful and exotic “Swamp Blossoms” will be displayed, along with work from the gallery’s group of glassmakers.

Visitors to Morning Star Gallery will also see new paintings by Jan Geismar, a North Carolina artist, and a small group of terracotta originals by Rod Shaw.

Those who can’t make it to the show can visit the gallery’s website for a sneak peek of the glass at http://www.morningstargalleryusa.com.

Morning Star Gallery is located at 1151 S. Main St. in downtown Blowing Rock. For more information, call (828) 295-6991.
