Michelle Childers acrylics at ArtWalk
This week, ArtWalk is featuring an acrylic artist from Sanford.
Michelle Childers, who now lives in Boone, relocated to attend Appalachian State University. She is now continuing her education through the University of Phoenix and is planning to work as an elementary school teacher. Meanwhile, she is working for Savory Thymes in Boone.
Childers began taking art seriously when she won an award in high school for a Relay for Life banner design. Afterwards, she took several art classes in college. She looks to her environment for inspiration and finds aesthetic appeal everywhere. Primarily, she works in acrylics, but she also enjoys experimenting with other media. Her goals for the future include establishing and participating in a community program that brings the visual arts to children that would not otherwise have the opportunity or financial resources to learn about art.
Childers currently has several small canvases, bookmarks, and cards in acrylic and watercolor on display at ArtWalk.
Michelle Childers' paintings are located in ArtWalk's lower level. With three and a half floors and more than 300 local, regional and national artists, ArtWalk is located at 611 W. King St. (across from Mast General Store) Boone, N.C. 28607. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. For more information, call (828) 264-9998, e-mail (email@example.com) or visit http://www.artwalkboone.com.
