Jim Chapman Paintings at Crestwood
Southern fare with European flair is how the Inn at Crestwood's
restaurant, The Table, describes its menu.
But it also describes the artwork Crestwood will
be showcasing in a celebratory reception with award-winning artist Jim Chapman this Sunday, July 24.
Chapman paints vibrant acrylics on canvas, and much of his work focuses on "Fantasy
Farmlands," which present his unique view of the southern landscape, while other paintings will
transport viewers to the wine regions or olive fields of Italy.
His still-life
paintings of baskets of fruits, vegetables or tempting offerings of food are often presented in
regional baskets or on table cloths brought back from European travels.
Chapman and Steve
Moberg, owner of Crestwood, are long-time friends who both share a passion for art and food. During
a recent gathering at Crestwood, the two men talked about featuring Chapman's paintings in the
restaurant and adjourning area as a great way to celebrate the summer season by pairing vibrant art
with delicious food and spectacular views.
Chapman lives in Charlotte, but will be at the
opening reception to share his passions about the subjects that filled his paintings and his
life.
The Art Cellar Gallery in Banner Elk has represented the work of Chapman for
many years, and his collectors span the Southeast.
Currently, Art Cellar is exhibiting a
selection of Chapman's large-scale landscapes and still-lifes and will be handling customers'
inquires about work displayed at Crestwood.
The reception takes place Sunday, July 24,
from 4 to 6 p.m. The Inn at Crestwood is located at 3236 Shulls Mill Road. For more information,
