Construction at Art Cellar
After spending the summer celebrating its 20th anniversary
season, The Art Cellar Gallery is finishing the year with the start of a much anticipated remodeling
In the early years, before Pamela and Michael McKay opened the gallery, the three-story building served many purposes, from dentist office to restaurant, and the McKays said it was beginning to show its age. So, the McKays are busy on a remodeling project that will give them a new entrance, entry gallery space and a revamped facade.
The gallery will continue regular hours throughout the construction process, and holiday season hours are the same, with the exception that The Art Cellar will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Featured work at The Art Cellar Gallery for the holiday season includes smaller artworks that gallery director Liz Brown said are “ideal for gift giving,” from pottery serving pieces to tea cups, glass ornaments, turned wood bowls and framed art.
“With its focus on local art, a gift from The Art Cellar is a great opportunity to support area small business and regional artists during the holiday season,” she said.
The Art Cellar Gallery is located at 920 Shawneehaw Ave. (N.C. 184) in Banner Elk and is open year round, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (828) 898-5175 or visit http://www.artcellaronline.com.
