Coffee Talk with Tony Griffin
The Art Cellar Gallery summer season of Saturday Coffee
Talks continues this Saturday, July 19, with Charlotte artist Tony Griffin.
Griffin will be in the gallery Saturday morning, from 10 a.m. to noon, for a casual talk and conversation about his paintings and drawings. The gallery is currently showing a wide range of this well-known artist’s work, which ranges from large landscapes, to plein air paintings and figurative work, including oil portraits and charcoal nudes on paper.
Griffin is also taking appointments for portrait sittings, and the coffee talk also offers visitors an opportunity to learn more about his commission portrait work. The Art Cellar Gallery will be scheduling portrait sittings with Griffin throughout the season.
The current exhibition of landscape paintings by artists Joseph Cave and Richard Oversmith continues through July 26. The gallery is expecting new work by sculptor Jane Jaskevich, who is bringing new figurative works in stone. Walter Stanford, Zoey Brookshire and Tom Van Nortwick have recently added new work to the gallery’s exhibit space, as well.
Artist Gregory Smith will be the next coffee talk artist on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to noon. He will share inspiration and his artistic view for creating his regional landscapes, trompe l’oeil and other work.
The Art Cellar Gallery is located on N.C. 194, just before the Mill Pond in Banner Elk. The gallery also features a full range of artists on all three floors. Painting, sculpture, glass, wood and pottery is the focus of the gallery, which represents artists from across the Southeast.
