Carlton Gallery presents ‘Wearable Art and Jewelry Show’
Carlton Gallery tries on its “Wearable Art and Jewelry Show” on
Saturday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This event is a feature for the ongoing Autumn Group Exhibition and the last Avery Tour de Art of the season.
“The changing season reminds one it’s time for warmth and coziness,” gallery owner Toni Carlton said, adding that both can be found in the handcrafted wool, silk and angora hats by Myra Tannehill and felted wool hats, berets and scarves by Vasanto.
Woven mobius shawls by Nancy Roberson are available in many colors, along with knitted ponchos and ruanas in seasonal colors by Princy Design. Hand-loomed cotton jackets, vests and long coats by Venus and reversible jackets by Trimdin will also be available.
The “Wearable Art and Jewelry Show” features bags by ERDA, which Carlton said are “hand-crafted from high-quality upholstery grade fabrics in beautiful colors and patterns.”
Dream Bags by Linda Berryman are crafted with fashion in mind, she said, adding that they are designed to be worn three different ways with no stress to one’s neck and shoulders. Evenlight Eagles’ company, Primavera Leathers, hand-crafts bags from free-range deer and elk leathers. The bags are hand-stitched with Irish waxed linen, and the deerskin straps are corded.
The show also features exquisite hand-crafted jewelry selections by the gallery’s numerous artisans, including Don Haywood, Julie Salvetti, Laura Fly, Lisa Kent, Rebecca Hellman, Tana Acton and Channing Ayers. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets, pendants and rings are among the collections in 14-18K gold and silver, with high-quality precious and semi-precious gemstones, pearls, crystals, fossils, sculptural wrapped wire and multi-hued beads.
An upcoming Holiday Open House is planned for Nov. 29 and 30 to celebrate the season. Carlton Gallery is located 10 miles south of Boone and seven miles north of Linville on N.C. 105 in the Grandfather Mountain community, near the entrance to Seven Devils.
