ArtWalk would like to add some handmade beauty to the tree this holiday season with Jeff McKinley’s blown glass ornaments, available in an array of vibrant colors and delicate shapes.

McKinley, an Asheville-based artist, trained at Scientific Glass in Raleigh for two years and has also been an artist-in-residence at Epcot Center. He is a fulltime glassblower and specializes in ornaments, pendant necklaces and oil lamps. His exacting attention to detail results in ornaments that look weightless and airy, yet are substantial enough to become family heirlooms.

“McKinley’s perfectly proportioned opalescent glass ornaments look just as beautiful hanging in a window as they do on a holiday tree or garland,” an ArtWalk spokesperson said. “Each ornament is completely unique, and these small works of art make beautiful gifts.”

Jeff McKinley’s work is located on the main floor of ArtWalk. With three and a half floors and more than 300 local, regional and national artists, ArtWalk is located at 611 W. King St. (across from Mast General Store) in downtown Boone. Holiday hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
