Blowing Rock chamber unveils 2014 ornament
The annual unveiling of the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce’s new Christmas tree ornament has become a tradition for many people in the village.
“I’ve had people calling about the new ornament for several weeks now,” said Marcia Vaughan, travel counselor for the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce.
The wait is over, as the new ornament arrived at the chamber last Monday.
The Christmas tree ornament for 2014 is deep blue and features an image of the Grover Robbins House on Park Avenue. Grover Robbins Sr. built the house in 1903 and later founded the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce in 1927.
The chamber of commerce’s current location is in the Robbins House.
The new ornament marks the 19th year in a row that the chamber has presented a commemorative ornament, featuring some distinctive location in Blowing Rock. Previous ornaments have featured places, such as the Green Park Inn and the Manor House at Chetola Resort.
Currently, the chamber of commerce is trying to locate two of the ornaments to complete its in-house collection: the ornaments featuring “The Village” and “The Blowing Rock.”
The new Christmas tree ornament costs $12 and is available at the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce.
