BRAHM to offer photography class
Photographer Lonnie Webster will host a three-day photography class at BRAHM in Blowing Rock in early March.
March is photography month at the Blowing Rock Art and History
Museum.
In addition to presenting its current main gallery exhibit, “The Carolina
Mountains: Photography of Margaret Morley,” the museum will also offer a photography class.
Professional photographer Lonnie Webster will lead a three-day photography class that takes
place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, March 4, 6 and 8.
The class
will focus on landscape and nature photography.
“Early March is a great time of year to do a
landscape photography class,” Webster said. “We will have a few spring flowers blooming, the sky
is usually blue with puffy white clouds with long distant views. Often in the summer, the sky
becomes hazy with limited long distant views. We could also have snow scenes to
photograph.”
The cost of the three-day class is $150 for BRAHM members and $165 for
non-members. No photography experience is necessary, but all class members must bring their own
digital cameras.
Webster said the class will first make sure everyone understands basic
photography terms, like shutter speed, ISO and f/stop, and how they affect each other and the end
results of the photograph.
“The class will try to cover workflow from camera to computer to
print or Internet,” Webster said. “Participants will be encouraged to photograph local landscape
between classes and, we will do some during class as a group.”
