Autumn color in Alta Vista Gallery
The vibrant colors of autumn are now inside of Alta Vista Gallery in a new show that will hang from Oct. 13 through Nov. 13.
“I asked my top artists to paint something that ‘says autumn’ to them, so we’ll have new works by many artists, such as Joan Sporn, Sheila Hancock, Jean Pollock, Tonya Bottomley, Jean Baird, Bennette Rowan, and Dean White,” said gallery owner Maria Santomasso-Hyde.
“The new paintings in this show range from a very small oil by Hancock, featuring a white farmhouse with a red tree, to a large oil by Sporn, featuring a golden forest,” Hyde said. “We’ll have all of the exciting colors of autumn on our walls — the many shades of reds and golds.”
On Oct. 22, the gallery will host the artist reception for this show, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., which is free and open to the public. Local artists will be on hand, and refreshments will be served, including tastes from Shelton Vineyards.
The Oct. 22 opening reception is a part of the monthly “Tour de Art,” which showcases 14 galleries and studios. Maps of the tour are available at each gallery. Receptions are held on the fourth Saturday of each month, June through November.
Alta Vista Gallery also shows more than 100 artists in various mediums, including oil, pastel, watercolor, jewelry, fused glass, stained glass and Mangum Pottery.
