Appalachian State University’s Turchin Center for the
Visual Arts is bringing in the fall season with six new exhibits.
The new additions
are “ArtJam: 6 Artists, 6 Media,” “Roadside Attraction” by Karen Bondarchuck, “At a Glance:
Gestures of Curt Brill,” “Forever Protected: New Paintings by Gayle Stott Lowry for the Blue Ridge
Conservancy,” and the second an third installments of the international exhibition series, “21
Sztuka: Contemporary Art from Poland I-V” – “My Second World: Contemporary Painting from the
Private Colleciton of Christopher Sztyber” and “Jedrzej Stepak: Spaces of the Brain — A Site

Six Virginia artists and friends
come together for a group exhibition of new work. These artists include: Martha Dillard, painter;
Jennifer Lovejoy, architect and stone carver; Martha Olson, paper collage and sculpture; Ann

Karen Bondarchuk is a visual artist whose work ranges from sculpture
and drawing to video and bookmaking. Her current sculpture and drawing work, centering on crows
and ravens, examines the complex, interwoven relationship between humans and corvids. For more

Curt Brill was the winner of the Martin & Doris Rosen Award during
the 24th Rosen Sculpture Competition in 2010, and he returns to Appalachian’s campus with a solo
exhibition of new work. Brill describes his work as focusing on the search “for the hidden Human
spirit. That small part that makes us each unique, yet finds us a common home.” For more

“Jedrzej Stepak: Site Specific Installation” is the third
of five exhibitions in the International Focus Exhibition, “Series 21 Szutka: Contemporary Art from
Poland I-V.” Jedrzej Stepak, an installation artist from Poland, will be transforming the
Mezzanine Gallery into a site-specific art installation. Stepak will also be participating in a

About the TCVA
The Turchin Center is located at
423 W. King St., in Boone. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday, and
noon to 8 p.m. Friday. The center is closed Sunday and Monday and observes all university
holidays. There is no admission charge, although donations are gratefully
accepted.
