Artists in Residence
Next year, Elliott Daingerfield’s artist studio, Edgewood
Cottage, will celebrate its 125th year in Blowing Rock.
Built in 1890, Edgewood Cottage is currently being used by the Blowing Rock Historical Society to host its annual Artist in Residence series. During the series, visitors can come to the cottage, meet with artists, view the creative process and possibly purchase an item or two.
The 2014 Artist in Residence series kicks off with an alumni show, featuring artists who have given exhibitions and demonstration in the series in years past. The alumni show will run from June 26 through July 1 and feature the work of Susan Powers, Anne Abgott, Pat Grant, Jim Ruff, Kathy Reece, Karen Havighurst, Kim Abernathy and Barbara Ballesty.
The series also features wood carver Pete Lupo (July 3 to 8), watercolor artist Kyle Keeter (July 10 to 15), watercolor artist JoAnn Pippin (July 17 to 22), pastel artist Eddie Kent Tallent (July 24 to 29), acrylic artist Tunde Afolayan Famous and book-maker Sigrid Hice (July 31 to Aug. 5), acrylic and oil painter Marsha Holmes (Aug. 7 to 12) and oil painter Amy McHugh and wood carver Don McHugh (Aug. 14 to 19).
Edgewood Cottage is located at the corner of S. Main and Chestnut streets in downtown Blowing Rock.
