ArtWalk is welcoming spring with fresh new canvas prints from Utah-based artist Diane Whitehead.

The downtown Boone gallery offers a variety of different images in canvas stretched on wood frames, including a few fixed on stands suitable for displaying on a table top.

According to ArtWalk, “Whitehead’s vivid colors and lively strokes make her animal portraits pop with energy.”

Crimsons, electric blues, and earth tones come together in Whitehead’s art, which depicts wildlife like bears and wolves, and farm creatures such as horses and cows. Whitehead travels around the country to photograph her subjects prior to painting, and the live-action quality of photography is retained in her richly painted scenes.

ArtWalk is located at 611 W. King St. in downtown Boone, across from the Mast Store. With more than three floors of work from local, regional and national artists, ArtWalk is located at 611 W. King St. (across from Mast General Store) in downtown Boone. Hours are Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m.
