Art and Artifacts presents group exhibit
As part of the Sunset Stroll on Sunset celebration, Art &
Artifacts and Blowing Rock Gallery of Homes and Land, two businesses under one roof, are featuring
the works of more than 14 artists in a group show.
Several of the artists will be present to discuss their works at a reception Friday, Sept. 6, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at 159 Sunset Drive. Refreshments will be served.
During the past five years, Art & Artifacts has showcased professional regional artists who have gained collectors and admirers throughout the country.
Featured at the September show will be jewelers Suzi Cook and Adornments by Lonnie of Greensboro, as well as beading artist Julie Knabb of Winston-Salem. Featured painters are Stephen Brooks and Judy Ryder of Hickory, Frances Bost of Newton, Irmaly Brackin and Lynne Marshall of Deep Gap, Addren Doss of Greensboro, Paul Nikitchenko of Wilmington, Andrea Illiades of Carrboro and Judi Russell of Winston-Salem.
The works of Knoxville, Tenn., potter Judy Brater will be featured, along with several potters from the Penland and Celo areas of North Carolina.
Commissioned paintings are a popular feature of the gallery. Marshall’s pencil, charcoal and watercolor portraits are on exhibit, as are Russell’s whimsical pet portraits and Doss’ realistic pet portraits.
This weekend only, discounts will be offered on several of the artists’ works. The sale will run from Friday, Sept. 6, through Sunday, Sept. 8.

The events are held monthly from May until October, the evening prior to the Saturday Art in the Park. Art in the Park is a village tradition that showcases the works of more than 90 juried artists.
Art & Artifacts features the work of more than 30 professional regional artists. The art gallery is an affiliated company of Blowing Rock Gallery of Homes and Land, which markets and sells properties in the four counties of the High Country. Both are located at 159 Sunset Drive.
