Area woodworkers come to ArtWalk
Suzi and Jim Parnell, a local husband and wife team that lives in Boone, have recently begun showing their handcrafted wood pieces at ArtWalk.
The creative duo began its line, Woodz Creations, in 2009 after many years of crafting pieces for family and friends. They use as much locally sourced wood as possible resulting in a nice array of colors and grains. They also use a number of techniques and create a wide variety of pieces, all at affordable rates.
Some of the pieces available at ArtWalk include "Boone" and "North Carolina" magnets and frames, delicate and ornate filigree wall hangings, wine racks, fish sculptures, cutting boards, platters, mirrors, snowflake and "Boone" peace ornaments, frames decorated with pine cones, snowflakes, snowboarders, trees, and bears, quote plaques, decorative boxes, and Celtic crosses for hanging on the wall or smaller crosses on cords for wearing or for hanging from rear view mirrors.
"Fine craftsmanship, high level of attention to detail, and organic, flowing lines show a mastery of the material," a gallery spokesperson said. "The Parnells' wood pieces make perfect, high quality, handmade souvenirs from Boone and North Carolina."
Suzi and Jim Parnell's woodworking is located on ArtWalk's lower level. With three and a half floors and more than 300 local, regional and national artists, ArtWalk is located at 611 W. King St. (across from Mast General Store) Boone, N.C. 28607.
