The Ashe County Arts Council is ready for the holidays, with an assortment of artwork and entertainment lined up for the winter season.
Annual Tree Fest exhibit at Ashe Arts Center
The Ashe Arts Center will welcomes the annual Tree Fest exhibit to the gallery in downtown West Jefferson.
The exhibit continues through Dec. 28. Beautifully decorated trees, handmade ornaments, miniature paintings and arts and crafts will be featured. The arts center hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Call (336) 846-2787 for more information.
Christmas Gallery Crawl
Downtown West Jefferson will be celebrating the holidays with an open house at galleries, studios and businesses downtown from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2. Enjoy new artwork, music, refreshments and holiday shopping. Participating galleries include Acorn Gallery, Ashe Arts Center, Ashe Custom Framing and Gallery, Backstreet Beads, BC Photography, Bohemia Gallery, Broomfields Gallery, Originals Only Gallery, Ripples Gallery, RT Morgan Art Gallery, Stephen Shoemaker Studio and Gallery, The Artists’ Theatre and Tin Roof Gallery. Open House at Ashe Arts Center
The Ashe County Arts Council celebrates the season with its annual open house in the gallery of the Ashe Arts Center with eight beautifully decorated trees, miniature paintings, holiday gift ideas and handmade ornaments. The friends and neighbors of the Arts Council are invited to stop by and enjoy refreshments, greet the staff and savor the sights, sounds and smells of the holiday season. The open house will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the opening reception of Tree Fest from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. The reception and open house are open to the public. Saturday with Santa
During the holiday open house at the Ashe Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 3, there will be a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus just for the children. From 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in three sessions, Santa and a photographer will be available for photos. Storytelling will be available in Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen. There will be an arts and crafts table and milk and cookies available and each child will receive a book and holiday gift bag. Ashe Choral Society Celebrates the Season
The Ashe County Choral Society’s annual Holiday Concert will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ashe Civic Center in West Jefferson. Formed in 1985, the choral society will celebrate its 26rth season. The concert is both a tradition and a highlight of the season in Ashe County. Under the direction of Grady Lonon and accompanist Michael Bell, the choral society has been in rehearsal once a week since September. The concert will feature both secular and sacred music. The concert is supported by a grant from the Grassroots Arts Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency, and a Community Arts Program Grant from the Ashe County Arts Council.
