An Alta Vista Christmas
Alta Vista Gallery in Valle Crucis is hosting its annual
Christmas Open House this Saturday, Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“The event is free and
open to the public, and it’s a great way to feel the Christmas spirit,” gallery owner Maria
Santomasso-Hyde said. “I hope that everyone will feel the peace, love and joy that is the miracle of
Santomasso-Hyde invites visitors to bring friends to enjoy Christmas décor,
hot cider, Christmas cookies, homemade sausage balls and other treats, along with wines from Shelton
Folks can also find unique, handmade gifts at Alta Vista, such as Mangum Pottery wine goblets, mugs and vases, as well as hand-turned wooden bowls, wooden letter-openers, handmade earrings and necklaces, fused-glass photo frames, votive-holders, platters and mirrors.
“We also have art prints starting at $10, and we have some very
well-priced original paintings from $85,” Santomasso-Hyde said. “Other gift ideas include
hand-carved Craftsman-style art tiles, stained glass and Christmas books and art by Will Moses, the
great-grandson of Grandma Moses. Also, we can ship gifts for you.
“One gift that my
customers really like is puzzles by … Will Moses, and he also has Christmas cards and beautiful
art-books, such as ‘T’was the Night Before Christmas’ and ‘Silent Night.’ We also are offering
framed Christmas-themed art by Moses from $25.
“Another gift that everyone loves is our
art-tiles created in the Craftsman period style, with prices starting at only $16. These tiles
depict various subjects, such as animals, butterflies, mountains and birds. Also, you can hang the
tiles indoors or outside, so the gift recipient has options.”
Alta Vista Gallery’s annual Christmas Open House is always held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Other gallery receptions are held from June through October, on the fourth Saturday of each month.
Alta Vista Gallery features more than 100 artists, in oils, watercolors, pastels and limited edition prints.
