Alta Vista Gallery in Valle Crucis is hosting its annual Christmas Open House this Saturday, Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“The event is free and open to the public, and it’s a great way to feel the Christmas spirit,” gallery owner Maria Santomasso-Hyde said. “I hope that everyone will feel the peace, love and joy that is the miracle of Christmas.”

Santomasso-Hyde invites visitors to bring friends to enjoy Christmas décor, hot cider, Christmas cookies, homemade sausage balls and other treats, along with wines from Shelton Vineyards.
Folks can also find unique, handmade gifts at Alta Vista, such as Mangum Pottery wine goblets, mugs and vases, as well as hand-turned wooden bowls, wooden letter-openers, handmade earrings and necklaces, fused-glass photo frames, votive-holders, platters and mirrors.

“We also have art prints starting at $10, and we have some very well-priced original paintings from $85,” Santomasso-Hyde said. “Other gift ideas include hand-carved Craftsman-style art tiles, stained glass and Christmas books and art by Will Moses, the great-grandson of Grandma Moses. Also, we can ship gifts for you.

“One gift that my customers really like is puzzles by … Will Moses, and he also has Christmas cards and beautiful art-books, such as ‘T’was the Night Before Christmas’ and ‘Silent Night.’ We also are offering framed Christmas-themed art by Moses from $25.

“Another gift that everyone loves is our art-tiles created in the Craftsman period style, with prices starting at only $16. These tiles depict various subjects, such as animals, butterflies, mountains and birds. Also, you can hang the tiles indoors or outside, so the gift recipient has options.”
Alta Vista Gallery’s annual Christmas Open House is always held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Other gallery receptions are held from June through October, on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Alta Vista Gallery features more than 100 artists, in oils, watercolors, pastels and limited edition prints. The gallery is located 10 minutes from Boone in a National Register of Historic Places farmhouse at 2839 Broadstone Road in Valle Crucis, between Mast Farm Inn and Mast Store Annex.
