All About the Birds at ArtWalk
Celebrate the much awaited arrival of spring this week with a unique and bird friendly bird house or bird feeder from Helena Rozo's Retro Chic Collection at ArtWalk.
Helena's high-quality, handmade birdhouses and feeders are entirely functional but also decorative. Each house and feeder is made with exterior quality ply board, kiln dried hardwood and non toxic exterior paint. All have galvanized steel roofs, and the roofs of the bird houses are reinforced with wood for added strength and insulation.
The birdhouses have back doors to make cleaning easy, as well as ventilation and drainage holes. They also have a decorative metal plate and wooden ring around the entrance, which serve to protect the birds from predators. The opening is only 1.5 inches, so it is an ideal bird house for small species such as finches, chickadees, and bluebirds.
The bird feeders have four feeding areas and a perching rim. The sides of the bird feeders are clear plastic windows which are removable for cleaning. Filling is easy, as the roof lifts up, and the feeder can hold up to 3.5 cups of seed (28 oz.). These feeders are ideal for a variety of birds, including cardinals, jays, chickadees, finches, woodpeckers, sparrows and many others.
Each feeder and house is decorated with a unique scene or pattern in pleasingly bright colors, slightly reminiscent of designs from the '60s and '70s. Flower patterns, zebra stripes, a family of owls and birds resting atop martini glasses are a few of the fun and interesting designs decorating these feeders and houses.
ArtWalk also has a wide selection of folk art birdhouses, ceramic bird feeders, and glass and ceramic humming bird feeders. Bird lovers can also find a variety of paintings, photographs, plant stakes, chimes and other art featuring their favorite little creatures.
Helena's bird feeders and bird houses are located on ArtWalk's main level. With three and a half floors and more than 300 local, regional and national artists, ArtWalk is located at 611 W. King St. (across from Mast General Store) Boone, N.C. 28607.
