East Asian brush art by Dawn Wicklow

The Watauga County Arts Council is sponsoring a workshop in East Asian Brush Painting, which will take place over the course of six sessions at the Blue Ridge ArtSpace.

Dawn Wicklow will be sharing the age-old brush strokes of the Chinese masters, as well as mounting techniques for handmade cards and completed paintings. Quality materials provided will include Chinese brushes, ink stones, ink sticks, rice paper and more.

This popular workshop will be offered in six sessions at two different times on the same days. Morning sessions will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and evening sessions will be offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Sessions will be held each Wednesday, from May 14 through June 18. Those interested can sign up for the six-session series for $180 (plus a $40 material fee payable to the instructor).

There are four ways to register: Visit the WCAC website to sign up online and pay via PayPal; download the registration form and mail it in with a check; call the WCAC at (828) 264-1789; or come by the Blue Ridge ArtSpace at 377 Shadowline Drive in Boone to register in person.
