10/10/10: A Once in a Century Sale
Some dates on the calendar present themselves as rare events, mathematical oddities or events of astrological or spiritual significance.
Next week will bring just such an event on Oct. 10, 2010, or 10/10/10, and this won't occur again for another hundred years.
At The Art Cellar Gallery, 10/10/10 has particular importance because gallery owner Pam McKay was born on Oct. 10.
In celebration of this special calendar event, The Art Cellar Gallery will hold a "Once in a Century Sale." The sale is a celebration of art and will include a wide range of work, and the sale discounts will be in increments of 10 in honor of the special date.
Gallery director Liz Brown said, "The sale will be a great mix of artwork from folk art, antique book plates, animation art, etchings and prints all from the gallery collection and will also include select artworks by some of our gallery artists.
"We are pulling out an assortment of older frames hidden away in the closet and a great collection of small ready made frames that might be perfect for someone who wants to mix and match some great frames at great prices."
Brown goes on to say "we are pulling out an assortment of older frames hidden away in the closet and a great collection of small ready made frames, that might be perfect for someone who wants to mix and match some great frames at great prices."
Pam McKay started The Art Cellar Gallery more than 17 years ago, and she created a gallery known for its exciting selection of local and regional artists. The gallery grew from its beginning in the cellar to include the building's full three floors, now featuring original paintings and sculpture complimented by a selection of regional pottery and folk art.
The sale promises a lively mix of art and energetic celebration for the once in a century 10-10-10 event, along with refreshments, including Pam's famous Salsa, wine and, of course, birthday cake.
